Meet Catalyst Church

Catalyst Church is a vibrant discipleship-driven ministry located in the heart of Northwest Arkansas. For over 30 years, the church has served the community, currently led by Lead Pastor Nate Sweeney, who has served for nearly 19 years.

The church is currently in an exciting season called "Expand the Base," having acquired 9 acres of land at 3700 E Central for a future campus. This expansion will facilitate a broader scope of ministry, including a regional training center and space for strategic discipleship. Catalyst is characterized by a diversity of people—from corporate professionals to outdoorsmen—united by worship and discipleship.

About the Executive Pastor

A healthy leadership will ensure that a strategic management plan is in place that accomplishes the organization's overall vision and mission. This does not imply that the individual will “personally do” the plan, but rather take the responsibility to see that the plan is accomplished by staff, key leadership, or volunteers in the church. It is critical that the Executive Pastor understands empowerment and macro-leadership, knowing when to personally do vs. equipping, empowering, and overseeing others to do. The Executive Pastor will report directly to the Lead Pastor and will be a valuable asset to help accomplish the vision of the church and the mission of the Elder Team. 

We are seeking to hire an Executive Pastor with experience in executive leadership and a heart to shepherd current and developing leaders. We have a 30+ year established ministry platform with a rich heritage of long-term families and leaders, along with a growing number of new members. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about joining us in our vision and culture as we grow into the next season God is inviting us into.

The Executive Pastor's responsibilities include:

Pastoral and Discipleship (80%)

• Staff Discipleship: Disciple and develop the staff team with a focus on soul care, leadership, and role development.
• Teaching: Participate as a member of the corporate gathering Teaching Team (if gifted), approximately 3-6 times a year. 
• Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual guidance to the congregation, including weddings, funerals, and hospital visitations.
• Abiding Platform: Continue to develop and implement the "Abiding Church Discipleship" platform.

Executive Leadership and Operations (20%)

• Strategic Management: Under the Lead Pastor's guidance, manage church-wide goals, delegate tasks, and evaluate progress.
• Staff Oversight: Manage human resources, including onboarding, yearly evaluations, team development, and hiring/transitions.
• Facilities: Ensure the church has adequate facilities and equipment; manage the use of facilities and oversee the transition to the new building project.
• Financials: Macro-lead the financials in cooperation with the Lead Pastor, Treasurer, and Elder Board (budgets, expense reconciliation, accountability).

Education and Experience

• A four-year bachelor’s degree is preferred; preference given to a pastoral or ministry-related degree.
• Preferred experience in executive and pastoral ministry.
• Ministerial credentials (or working toward them) are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Organizational/Administrative Ability: Strong skills in empowering leaders and managing complex systems.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership Development: Proficiency in the "5 E’s of Leadership": Establish, Equip, Empower, Expand, and Encourage.
• Conflict Management: Ability to handle interpersonal dynamics with grace and truth.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

• Intimate Abiding Relationship: Possesses a personal, intimate abiding relationship with Christ and maintains a healthy soul and family life.
• Macro-Leader: Understands the difference between "personally doing" and equipping/empowering others to do.
• Team Player: Loyal to the ministry leadership and capable of working in a "whatever-it-takes" team environment.
• Doctrinal Alignment: Must subscribe without reservation to Catalyst Church’s Doctrine and standards of conduct.
