About the Family Pastor

The Family Pastor serves as the chief visionary and motivator for our church’s ministry to kids and their families. This person will lead the charge in building a vibrant, engaging, gospel-centered culture for kids from birth through 5th grade, and their families. They will mentor, pray and supervise staff and volunteers providing a welcoming, loving, and safe environment that teaches the Word and Spirit of Christ and equips parents to disciple their kids. They will actively pursue ongoing refinement of areas of oversight.

The Family Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of paid staff and volunteers in the operation of a kids ministry, including weekend services and periodic special events.

• Equip and empower a team of paid staff in spiritual and professional development.

• Utilize curriculum to not only making Sundays awesome, but to connect the church and home throughout the week & empower parents to disciple their kids.

• Implement children’s registration, classroom management, and security policies/ practices in support of weekend services and periodic special events.

• Direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff kids ministry classrooms and special events.

• Create and manage an annual budget for kids and family ministries.

• Assist in implementing and developing events to engage families and their kids in a fun, creative atmosphere.

• Assist with special programs and events (not limited to 2RCKids) throughout the year.

• Preach as needed (approximately 4-6x per year).

Education and Experience

  • This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years experience as a staff member in a kids ministry leadership capacity.
  • Possession of a teaching or related degree is preferred. (Extensive ministry experience, in some cases, can be substituted).
  • A culture creator who knows how to shape environments with joyful, gospel-infused purpose, and has the gift of “woo” (winning others over) who thrives in building relationships and team momentum.
  • A working knowledge of creative programming related to children’s classes and special events is a must.

• Excellent organizational, administration and relational skills.

• Organized, self motivated, efficient and ability to multi-task.

• Possess a knowledge of child development (physical, mental and spiritual)

• Seek educational opportunities when possible through conferences, workshops, books, videos, and other training resources.

• Humble leader and team player who thrives in collaborative environments.

• A passion for seeing kids and families transformed by the gospel and living on mission.
