Meet First Baptist Church at The Villages

First Baptist Church at The Villages began as a church plant in December 2001 with 70 people in attendance in the first worship service, which was held at a local funeral home. Today, the people at FBC The Villages meet together during one service each week to praise and learn about God. FBC At The Villages strives for each person to feel a sense of home when they walk through the front doors, whether it’s their first time or they’ve been around forever. The service begins with upbeat congregational singing led by the band, praise team, and 70-voice choir. God continues to bless the church and membership now totaling approximately 650 people who serve and worship God together. Online church is available for those unable to physically attend.

About the Worship Pastor

To provide leadership for Worship in support of the church’s Purpose: Glorifying God; Mission: Engaging People; and Vision: Being Church, as a member of the church’s Pastoral Staff.

The Worship Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

• Reflect the spiritual character of a Christ-follower as described in Scripture.
• Fulfill the specific responsibilities of a Pastor as defined in Scripture.
• Serve on the church’s Executive Committee.
• Provide leadership for weekly worship and periodic musical presentations.
• Plan, in conjunction with the Pastoral Staff, thematically integrated and missionally supportive weekly worship and periodic musical presentations.
• Recruit, schedule, develop and rehearse volunteer and paid instrumentalists, vocalists, and worship leaders.
• Develop an annual ministry plan and budget for the church’s Worship.
• Oversee the church’s Worship and Music Staff.
• o In the use of sound, lighting, video, and all other media.
• o In the maintenance and purchase of worship equipment.
• o In the organization and maintenance of the church’s music library, including digital data.

Education and Experience

• Seminary training or theological coursework.
• Several years of worship ministry experience.
• Experience planning services weeks in advance.
• Familiarity with blended/traditional/contemporary worship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong biblical and worship theology aligned with SBC / BF&M 2000.
• Skilled worship leader (vocal and instrumental) with experience in choir and band settings.
• Ability to plan cohesive, multi-generational worship services.
• Strong relational leadership; able to mentor and develop volunteers.
• Ability to partner closely with the Senior Pastor and staff.
• Pastoral, evangelistic mindset with a commitment to excellence.
• Ability to lead change thoughtfully while building trust.
