About the Worship Pastor


The Worship Pastor’s calling is to cultivate Spirit-filled experiences at Movement Church that lead people into genuine encounters with God and inspire them to live fully committed lives for Christ. This role fosters a creative culture within the worship department, empowering individuals to use their musical talents and songwriting gifts to advance the gospel both in our community and across the nation.



The Worship Pastor's responsibilities include:


  • To cultivate the worship culture and expression of Movement Church.
  • Coordinate and lead worship at Movement Church’s weekend experiences and special events.
  • To provide leadership and oversight to the Worship and experience team (worship, sound, and production).
  • Select music that aligns with the overall vision and values of the church and plan the flow of worship to be Christ-centred, engaging, relevant, well-produced, and transformative.
  • Recruit, mentor, and train volunteer worship and experience team members.
  • Develop the worship and experience team skills and help them grow in their skills as a team.
  • Pastor the worship and experience teams and maintain health teams for both while protecting unity.
  • Stay current with trends in worship and production technology.
  • To work with the Lead Pastor to see the ministry objectives of Movement Church are fulfilled.
  • Work with our Experience team and Lead Pastor to create amazing, spirit-filled, relevant, and creative experiences.
  • Overseeing sound, lighting, and AV equipment and volunteers.
  • Responsible for overall vision and music development of Movement Worship.


Managing Responsibilities


  • Cultivating the creative culture of the worship team.
  • Managing the experience and worship teams' workload and productivity.
  • Oversight and mentorship of musicians, vocalists, and worship leaders.
  • Connecting regularly with each member of the experience and worship team.
  • Administering and scheduling the volunteer experience and worship team using Planning Centre.
  • Creating and updating monthly schedules for weekend experiences as well as special events (Christmas, Easter, Worship Nights, conferences, etc.)
  • Recruiting new volunteer musicians through auditions and engaging in individual training.
  • Constructing weekly worship sets and communicating songs and other relevant details for experience and worship teams.
  • Work with the Media and Communications Director for sermon and worship graphics to be used on Sunday mornings.
  • Manage and oversee special events such as Easter, Dadfest, Mother’s Day, Kick off, Christmas, Move Conference, or any other events the Lead Pastor wishes to implement.
  • Work with the creative team to create events and outreaches that are creative, engaging, and meet the set goals for the event or outreach.


Organization Responsibilities


  • Attendance at All Staff Meetings.
  • Contribute to a volunteer culture of raising up and equipping people to do the work of the church.



What you bring


The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Worship Pastor:


Education and Experience


  • 3+ years of ministry experience.
  • Undergrad degree


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Proficient as a vocalist and musician.
  • Able to lead worship both musically and verbally to help the congregation engage more deeply in worship and their relationship with God.
  • Must be able to plan a meaningful, impactful, Spirit-filled worship service.
  • Able to lead and develop worship and experience team volunteers.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal, relational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, give direction to, and develop a band.
  • History of working well with a Lead Pastor, staff, and volunteers.
  • History of creating a positive, encouraging team environment.
  • Understanding of Planning Centre and familiarity with other worship technologies and software such as Ableton, Logic, ProTools, etc..
