About the College Pastor

The College and Young Adult Pastor is responsible for directing our church in how to best minister to individuals aged 18 to 29.

Position Focus: To develop Christ-centered college students and young adults who make a difference by helping them Connect with Christ, Transform in Community, and Engage their World.

The Vision: The mission of Doxology College is to reach the nations through the campus by making disciples who make disciples. Similarly, we desire that the Young Adults of Doxology fully realize and live into their ability to be evangelists and disciple-makers for a lifetime.

The College Pastor's responsibilities include:

Leading The Way Personally

  • We believe effective leaders are taking people someplace they are willing to go. We expect that everyone on the staff team at Doxology models a personal commitment to Christ-centeredness on a daily basis. Secondarily, we expect our staff team to champion and support the mission and vision of Doxology personally.

Overseeing Doxology College and Young Adults

  • In cooperation with fellow Doxology College staff members, ensure the execution of all aspects of the College Ministry.Encounter (Weekly large group gathering.)
  • Community Groups
  • Student Leadership Teams and Equipping Opportunities
  • Retreats and Special Events
  • Outreach and Evangelism Events
  • Global Missions Efforts
  • In cooperation with the Equipping Pastor, ensure the execution of all aspects of the Young Adult Ministry.Community Groups
  • Coaching of Young Adult Community Group Leaders
  • Monthly Young Adult Events
  • Follow Up with Young Adult Worship Guests
  • Model a value of “launching the next generation” not only through ministry to college students and young adults but also through the incorporation of and development of leaders in these ministries.
  • Model doing “church as a family” through a commitment to being a ministry that reflects the values of being multi-generational & multi-cultural.

Development of Others and Collaboration with Teams

  • Develop, recruit, train and spiritually lead a team of people to execute the College and Young Adult of Doxology, both staff and volunteers.
  • Develop College Ministry and Young Adult residents for the purpose of launching them into ministry at Doxology or elsewhere.

Emphasis and Goals for the Role in 2026

  • Leadership Development: Ensure our Associate College Director and our new class of residents are receiving adequate care, training, and leadership development.
  • Evangelistic Focus: Ensure that the current evangelistic momentum in our College Ministry is sustained and has the opportunity to grow. (40+ individuals became Christ followers this year through the personal evangelism of our students.)

What you bring

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the College Pastor:

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required, Masters degree preferred.
  • At least some theological training is ideal. 
  • Significant experience (5 years +) in College Ministry, ideally including the leadership of other staff or high-level volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Teacher – You have a desire and ability to communicate God’s Word effectively.
  • Evangelistic – You regularly share the Gospel with others in the places you live, work, and play.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

  • Relationally Gifted – You love engaging with people and tend to choose spending time with people over completing tasks.
  • Strong Leadership – You have a proven track record of leading well.
  • Self-Starter – You take initiative and seek direction as needed.
  • Strategic Planner – You can leverage time, talent, and resources to achieve goals with efficiency.
  • Visionary – You see potential where others don’t and aren’t afraid to dream big.
  • Team Player – You value the input of others both in your personal development and in your ministry.
  • Positive and Optimistic Attitude – You assume the best in people and situations! You are not easily discouraged.
  • Maintain Confidentiality – You maintain appropriate boundaries with information.
  • Affirmation of Doxology Bible Church’s Statement of Faith is required, along with a commitment to conduct this role in alignment with the Statement of Faith, Vision, and Teaching of Doxology Bible Church.
