About the Next Gen Pastor

Evangel Temple Church is seeking a highly relational, energetic, and creative leader of leaders with a passion for the next generation. The Next Gen Director will oversee five staff members to build an engaging kids and youth ministry and cast the vision for one cohesive family ministry.  

The ideal candidate is a people manager and strategic architect who can build healthy volunteer pipelines, foster a culture of excellence, and have a strong passion for every child at Evangel Temple to be known, loved, and led toward a lifelong faith in Jesus.

The Next Gen Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Vision Casting: Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive, unified vision for the NextGen ministry team (e.g., from nursery to high school graduation).
  • Alignment: Ensure that all age-specific curriculum, programming, and core values are aligned to achieve the same overall spiritual development goals.
  • Budget & Administration: Manage and steward the annual NextGen ministry budget, overseeing all compliance, safety, and administrative protocols.

Team & Volunteer Development

  • Coaching & Care: Provide ongoing coaching, spiritual care, and encouragement to 5 staff members to prevent burnout and maximize effectiveness.
  • Recruitment & Training: Build a healthy volunteer pipeline through recruiting, screening, training, and inspiring a large volunteer base.  
  • Process Management: Establish robust systems for onboarding and communication to sustain long-term ministry health.

Program Management & Execution

  • Curriculum: Oversee the selection, development, and implementation of all age-appropriate teaching materials and resources.
  • Events: Work with ministry staff to plan and execute major events, including summer camps, mission trips, community outreach, and retreats.
  • Environment: Ensure all ministry environments (physical and digital) are safe, welcoming, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Parent Partnership: Act as a resource for parents by providing tools and training, as well as writing family devotionals to empower parents as the primary faith leaders in their home.
  • Relational Ministry: Build meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with families outside of regular programming (e.g., attending school events, connecting over coffee).
  • Outreach: Develop relationships with local schools and community organizations to expand the reach and influence of the ministry.

Spiritual and Character

  • Possesses a clear calling to minister to children, students, and their families.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Theology, Education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a church setting, including significant experience overseeing Children’s and Student Ministries simultaneously.
  • Proven experience in leading a ministry team and recruiting, training, and sustaining large volunteer teams.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills with the ability to relate all age groups (children, students, and adults).
  • Proficiency in ministry-related software (e.g., Planning Center) and budget management.

  • Ability to think and act independently with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, probe for understanding, and work in collaboration with others to achieve desired results.
  • Must be a strong communicator with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable and functional in technical writing, including consistent and correct use of tense, grammar/spelling, and terminology that is interesting and varied
  • Strong proofreading skills to produce error-free documents
