About the Director of Music and Content

Music: The Director of Music and Content at Open Door Church is a key position on the team, not just as a talented musician, but a teammate on the staff and a valued part of the faith community. Working hand-in-hand with the Media Pastor, the Creative Team, and volunteers, this leader brings the ability to connect people to God through music and creative aspects of the weekend worship services, crafting an engaging Christ-centered worship experience. This leader will be highly relational in order to care for and equip / empower team members to help carry out the work of the music ministry. While they serve as the primary voice and face of weekend worship, they intentionally share the stage to build up other leaders and foster a culture of shared leadership. 

Content: On the content side, the Director of Music and Content will help shape and create stories of how God is at work through the ministries of Open Door Church. They will work on the team to help with podcasts, technical components, social media, graphics, video editing, photography and further content development. 

The Director of Music and Content's responsibilities include:

Lead worship in all Environments

  • Oversee all worship and musical elements for the church.
  • Manage band rehearsals.
  • Serve as the primary worship leader.
  • Oversee the setup and operation of any service that includes worship music including sound.
  • Lead the worship team in brainstorming, scheduling, and implementing the worship services. Ensure that the content and creativity match and are planned appropriately.

Train Musicians and Vocalists

  • Ensure that the band can play and vocalists can perform songs with excellence.
  • Identify, invite, mentor, and empower leaders to participate in the worship ministry.
  • Develop multiple worship leaders, including musicians, across multiple campuses and services. 

Raise Leaders

  • Pastor, coach, and care for all lead volunteers. Take key leaders to other services, conferences, and meetings that will help equip them for the work of the ministry.
  • Create systems and events to thank and appreciate Music Ministry volunteers.

Produce Podcasts

  • Film and edit the church’s daily podcast, One Single Story.
  • Distribution of audio and video content of the podcast.

Produce Content

  • Assist in the creation and production of pre-service graphics, sermon graphics and videos for all services and events. Ensure that projects are completed on schedule.
  • Make every effort to ensure that the Open Door Church “brand” is consistent in all published materials, including, but not limited to, logo designs and sermon series designs in all genres (website, videos, posts, publications, and social media).
  • Distribution of audio and video content of the Sunday Morning Service.
  • Creation of other needed videos for services, social media or websites.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Vocal and Instrumental Proficiency: Strong performance abilities in vocals / instrumentation - Piano / keys is a must. Capable of leading across all styles of modern music (e.g., Elevation, Brandon Lake, Maverick City).
  • Worship Software Expertise: Proficiency with digital tools and software used for modern worship, including Ableton, Playback, DAWs (like Logic or Protools), Planning Center, and ProPresenter.
  • Service Programming: The ability to plan and execute tightly timed weekend services with clearly defined transitions without making it feel rigid or losing flow. 
  • Team Development: The capability to spiritually lead, train, and equip volunteer musicians and vocalists to improve their worship talents.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: The ability to work seamlessly alongside the broader programming team and collaborate well within that space.
  • Content Creation & Tech: Proficient in the Adobe Suite, Canva, Photoshop, and social media platforms (Reels, Instagram). Must possess basic camera and video editing skills to capture baptisms, tell stories, and produce digital content
