Meet Quail Lakes Baptist Church


Founded in 1959, Quail Lakes Baptist Church is a thriving, multi-generational church located in Stockton, California. For more than six decades, Quail has been committed to its mission of winning and building passionate, lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. Through biblical teaching, authentic worship, intentional discipleship, and meaningful community engagement, the church seeks to help people take their next steps in following Christ.


Quail Lakes offers both traditional and contemporary worship services, creating opportunities for people from a variety of backgrounds and generations to connect with God and one another. About the Lead Pastor


To serve the congregation as the primary spiritual leader of the church, responsible for preaching, casting vision, staff leadership, and overall ministry direction. He will be a proven expository preacher, visionary leader, and a capable organizational manager who equips the church to fulfill its mission of winning and building passionate lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.



The Lead Pastor's responsibilities include:


Lead the congregation from the pulpit


  • Serve as the primary preacher, delivering biblically faithful, Christ-centered, and engaging expository sermons. 
  • Provide theological leadership that aligns with the church’s statement of beliefs.
  • Oversee the teaching ministry to ensure biblical integrity and spiritual depth.


Vision and Leadership


  • Serve as the chief visionary leader, articulating and implementing a clear, compelling vision for the church’s future.
  • Lead strategic planning and ministry development efforts.
  • Foster a culture of disciple-making, evangelism, and spiritual growth.
  • Collaborate with elders and commission leaders to ensure unity and mission alignment.


Staff & Organizational Management


  • Work with the Executive Director of Operations to provide direct leadership and oversight to church staff and volunteer ministry leaders. 
  • Demonstrate proven success in managing, mentoring, and developing staff teams.
  • Lead regular staff meetings, goal-setting processes, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across ministries.


Shepherding and Pastoral Care


  • Model Christlike character and servant leadership.
  • Provide/delegate pastoral care, counseling, weddings, funerals, and crisis response as appropriate.
  • Equip and empower lay leaders for ministry.


Represent Quail at community, regional, and national meetings of NABC


  • Represent the church in the local community.
  • Encourage outreach initiatives and partnerships.
  • Promote a welcoming and evangelistic church culture.
  • Participate in NAB Conference and NAB NorCal events as appropriate.



What you bring


The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Lead Pastor:


Education and Experience


  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent theological training highly preferred.
  • Ordained 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading an evangelical church.  


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Gifted expository preacher of The Word.
  • Spiritual gifts might include administration, leadership, and evangelism.
  • Ability to lead, train, and manage teams of people in order that they work together toward a desired end result.
  • Cast, articulate, and implement a clear, compelling vision for the church’s future.
  • Experience in serving a congregation with both traditional and contemporary forms of worship. 
  • Foster a culture of disciple-making, evangelism, and spiritual growth. 


Personal Characteristics and Qualifications


  • Growing as a disciple in Christ personally.
  • Strong character consistent with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Model Christlike character and servant leadership.
