About the Children’s Pastor

Pillar Church is a presence-driven, people-focused, and growing church in Scottsdale, Arizona, that is dedicated to bringing our Best Friend more best friends than any group of friends in our lifetime. Our Hero Kids ministry believes in creating an environment where kids discover the love of Jesus, develop the gifts He placed inside of them, and are deployed into their communities and beyond, knowing the truth of God’s character. We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and creative Children’s Pastor who will bring our vision to life and lead a growing team in a large-scale children’s ministry.  

As our Children’s Pastor, you’ll oversee and grow an exciting and innovative children’s ministry. You’ll lead with creativity and energy, developing and building upon a vibrant atmosphere that makes church fun and memorable for kids. You’ll also focus on leadership development, brand creation, and storytelling to communicate the heart of God in powerful ways. The Children Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

Leadership Development & Team Building

• Lead, inspire, and grow a passionate team of staff and volunteers, ensuring they feel equipped and excited to serve. 
• Recruit, train, and empower leaders at all levels, ensuring they understand their vital role in shaping the next generation. 
• Create a leadership pipeline that attracts, develops, and retains top talent for children’s ministry, creating new opportunities for growth and mentorship. 
• Conduct regular leadership training events and coaching sessions to enhance team skills and grow leaders from within. 

Branding & Communication

• Build and maintain a distinct and exciting brand for our children’s ministry that reflects the culture and mission of Hero Kids. This includes visual identity, tone, and atmosphere both in person and online. 
• Develop creative, fun, and engaging communication strategies for families that build excitement and anticipation for events, services, and ministry. 
• Utilize innovative storytelling techniques to create experiences that bring Bible stories to life, making them relatable, unforgettable, and applicable to kids’ lives. 
• Create an immersive brand experience that resonates across all platforms—digital, print, social media, and in-person.

Ministry Programming

• Design and implement high-energy, engaging, and spiritually enriching services that meet the needs of children (infants to grade 5) while keeping them engaged, entertained, and growing in their faith. 
• Develop a creative and impactful curriculum that integrates fun, worship, storytelling, and scripture application. Utilize media, games, and technology to enhance teaching.

• Plan and execute large-scale events, camps, and Family Nights that build community, excitement, and spiritual growth. Make each event a unique, memorable experience for kids and families. 
• Create opportunities for kids to serve, be involved, and grow in their leadership from a young age. 

Storytelling & Fun Culture

• Use storytelling as a primary tool to connect with kids and communicate biblical truths. Develop compelling narratives that captivate and engage young hearts and minds. 
• Inject creativity and fun into everything—from Sunday services to mid-week programs, ensuring every experience feels fresh, exciting, and full of energy.
• Build a culture of fun where kids look forward to coming to church, because they know it’s a place where they can be themselves, have fun, and experience God in a unique way.  

Engagement

• Partner with parents in discipling their children, providing them with resources, tools, and strategies to continue the spiritual journey at home.
• Development and management of an online app for the primary use of discipleship.
• Create a welcoming, family-first culture where children and parents alike feel a strong sense of belonging and excitement.

Operational Experience

• Manage the children’s ministry budget and allocate resources effectively to ensure the highest quality programs and events. 
• Ensure a safe, secure, and efficient environment for children’s ministry with proper background checks, security protocols, and risk management strategies. 
• Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs, services, and events, using feedback to make continuous improvements.

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 5+ years of ministry experience specifically in leading large-scale Children’s Ministries (250+ kids weekly)
