First Baptist Church of Georgetown has been a pillar of faith in the community since 1790. For over two centuries, the church has been a place where generations have gathered for worship, discipleship, and mission. Its historic downtown location reflects its deep roots, and its ministries continue to serve as an anchor for families across the Georgetown area.


Today, FBC Georgetown is in an exciting revitalization season, seeking to build on its strong foundation to reach the next generation. With an average weekly attendance of ~350, the church is known for its warm fellowship, blended worship style, and commitment to Scripture. Led by Senior Pastor Ben (serving since December 2024), the church is passionate about becoming a sending, equipping, and growing congregation in the heart of the Lowcountry.



About the Children’s Family Pastor


The ideal candidate for the Children’s & Family Pastor at FBC Georgetown will be a passionate leader who loves to shepherd children from birth through 6th grade and who can inspire a culture where kids and families thrive in their walk with Christ. They will demonstrate the ability to shape a generation of children, building strong foundations of faith, and come alongside parents as their greatest partners in discipleship. Also, this person will bring vision and creativity to outreach, discipleship, equipping parents, raising up volunteers, and creating spaces where children encounter the Gospel in life-giving ways. 


The Children’s Family Pastor's responsibilities include:


  • Provide visionary leadership for all children’s programming (birth–6th grade)
  • Equip and disciple parents to be primary faith influencers
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders
  • Oversee curriculum and ensure doctrinal alignment
  • Plan and execute outreach events, VBS, and seasonal festivals
  • Partner with Student Pastor for smooth transitions from children’s to student ministry
  • Maintain security and safety standards for children’s ministry environments

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (seminary or ministry-related education a plus)
  • Previous ministry experience helpful but not required — potential and calling valued


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Strong teacher and shepherd with a passion for family discipleship
  • Ability to raise up and develop leaders
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Relational, approachable, and culturally aware


Personal Characteristics and Qualifications


  • Humble, teachable, and collaborative
  • Passionate about reaching children and equipping parents
  • Sound SBC theology with ability to connect biblically and practically
  • High energy and vision for revitalization season
