Meet First Baptist Church at The Villages
First Baptist Church at The Villages began as a church plant in December 2001 with 70 people in attendance in the first worship service, which was held at a local funeral home. Today, the people at FBC The Villages meet together during one service each week to praise and learn about God. FBC At The Villages strives for each person to feel a sense of home when they walk through the front doors, whether it’s their first time or they’ve been around forever. The service begins with upbeat congregational singing led by the band, praise team, and 70-voice choir. God continues to bless the church and membership now totaling approximately 650 people who serve and worship God together. Online church is available for those unable to physically attend.
About the Discipleship Pastor
This role reflects the spiritual character of a Christ-follower as described in Scripture, fulfills the biblical responsibilities of a Pastor, and provides pastoral leadership to specific areas of the church’s ministries. As a member of the Pastoral Staff and the church’s Executive Committee, this position supports and advances the church’s Purpose of glorifying God, its Mission of engaging people, and its Vision of being the Church.
The Discipleship Pastor’s responsibilities include:
Oversee Community Groups
- Cast vision and offer direction
- Leader recruitment, encouragement, and development
- Plan recurring group leader meetings
Oversee Engagement Ministries
- Discover Class
- Leader recruitment and development
- Volunteer events
Oversee Hospitality Ministries
- Café, Greeters, Ushers, Medical Response, Risk Management
- Guest Ministry
Oversee Discipleship Training Ministries
- Discipleship Pathway
- Pastoral liaison with all classes
- Development of new class opportunities
Oversee Communications
- Cast vision and offer direction to all aspects of communication within and without the church
- Pastoral liaison with communication staff and volunteers
Liaise with Outreach Ministries, with emphasis on:
- Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School
- Operation Christmas Child
- Third Sunday Collection
Worship Participation
- Weekly welcome and announcements
- Participate in Praise Team, Band, and Choir
- Assist with Tech Team as needed
- Assist with worship leadership as needed
Other Pastoral Duties, including but not limited to:
- Pastoral visitation
- Assist with preaching and teaching as needed

Education and Experience
- Seminary degree required
- 5–10 years of ministry leadership experience
- Proven ability to lead discipleship, groups, or outreach
- Ability to teach and preach periodically

- Ability to build and lead a clear discipleship pathway
- Skilled in recruiting, training, and supporting leaders
- Organized, strategic, and adaptable
