About the Student Ministry Pastor
The Student Ministry Pastor role at Foothills Bible Church (FBC) is a critical leadership position focused on revitalizing and leading the middle and high school ministries.

The Student Ministry Pastor's responsibilities include:
-
Teaching and Spiritual Leadership: The pastor is expected to deliver compelling, relatable, and biblically accurate teaching to the students. They must maintain a balanced approach that ensures practical life application is paired with deep biblical study.
- Vision Casting and Culture Building: The pastor is responsible for cultivating a transformative culture that equips students for impactful community involvement and worshipful living. This includes creating an intentional blend of outreach (evangelism) and deep spiritual growth (discipleship), ensuring there is an equal split between fellowship/fun activities and the practice of spiritual habits.
- Recruiting and Developing Leaders: A significant portion of the role involves building and empowering a robust team of adult volunteers and student leaders. The pastor is expected to spend equal time developing these leaders as they do personally discipling a small number of students.
- Staff and Budget Management: The pastor will directly supervise 2 to 3 staff members (which currently includes college interns) and manage an annual department budget of $56,000.
- Community and Parent Integration: The pastor must actively cultivate and rebuild trust with parents and families, which has been damaged due to recent leadership turnover. Furthermore, they are expected to have a broad vision that integrates students into the wider life and mission of the church, rather than operating a siloed youth ministry.
- Event and Program Management: The role requires proficiency in organizing impactful activities, such as weekly Wednesday night gatherings, Sunday night high school small groups, and annual summer camps and winter retreats.
- Providing Stability: Given the church's recent history of high turnover in this department, a key overarching responsibility is to commit to the role for at least 5 years to establish much-needed stability for the students and the minister.
