Meet CrossRoads Church

Since 1999, CrossRoads Church has been woven into the fabric of Norfolk, Virginia. What started on the Old Dominion University campus has grown into a vibrant community with a simple, passionate heart: to let the love of God transform our campus, our city, and the world through real, life-changing relationships. In 2005, our founding Pastor, Kevin Tremper, relaunched CrossRoads with a fresh vision to serve and connect with the people around us. Then in 2011, Larchmont Baptist generously gifted us their building, giving our ministry a permanent home and a wonderful space to welcome everyone who walks through our doors.

About the Lead Pastor

The Lead Pastor will serve as the primary preaching and shepherding pastor, responsible for shepherding the congregation, equipping leaders, and furthering the church's mission. We seek a prayerful, mission-minded leader who can help the church grow in faithfulness, hospitality, evangelism, discipleship, and gospel-centered service.

The Lead Pastor's responsibilities include:

  • Ensure all ministries are aligned with the overall direction and spiritual priorities determined by the Elder Board.
  • Shepherd church staff and ministry leaders, fostering a healthy, unified, accountable, and Christ-centered team culture.
  • Provide guidance and input on staff performance reviews.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of weekly worship services in collaboration with worship and ministry leaders.
  • Serve on the preaching team, delivering biblically sound, relevant, and engaging sermons at least 24 weeks annually.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing a church-wide discipleship and leadership development strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction for small group ministry and Bible studies.
  • Equip and empower church members to discover and use their gifts and talents.
  • Provide oversight to the Deacon/Care, Outreach, and Missions ministries.
  • Officiate weddings, funerals, and other pastoral ceremonies.
  • Oversee systems for welcoming and integrating new guests.
  • Help preserve and strengthen CrossRoads' historic heart for campus ministry, community engagement, and global missions.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

  • A humble, spiritually mature shepherd who leads with biblical conviction, relational warmth, and pastoral wisdom.
  • Prioritizes equipping others and building healthy ministry teams rather than carrying ministry alone.
