About the Kids Pastor


The Kids Pastor plays a vital role in helping kids take their next steps toward Christ by equipping leaders to serve with confidence and purpose. This role engages Area Coordinators and volunteers by connecting them to meaningful roles within Kids, guiding them through the onboarding process, and walking alongside them in their leadership journey. This role will also ensure systems and administrative functions are operating smoothly.  


They encourage leaders through ongoing support, care, and resources that foster a healthy, thriving team culture. This role educates leaders by providing training opportunities, sharing helpful tools and promoting spiritual growth. 


Ultimately, this role empowers every leader to discover their God-given S.H.A.P.E. (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, Experiences), grow in their leadership, and boldly take their next step toward Christ.



The Kids Pastor's responsibilities include:


Area Coordinators


Provides leadership and oversight for the Area Coordinator Team. Responsible for onboarding and equipping new team members, as well as facilitating their ongoing training and development. Offers consistent weekly guidance and support, with a special emphasis on encouraging personal spiritual growth. 


Volunteers


Participates in the onboarding and placement process for all new volunteers. Assists in overseeing a team responsible for initial volunteer training and develops an annual training strategy to ensure continued growth and effectiveness. Partners with Area Coordinators to provide resources and support for ongoing volunteer development. 


Care


Cues the appropriate team members to ensure kids and volunteers feel seen in the highs and lows of life. 


Milestones


Recognizes key spiritual milestones for each phase of a child’s journey, including dedication, salvation, and baptism, and provides next steps out of those events. Actively tracks progress and encourages both kids and families as they move forward in their faith. 


Everything Else


Ministry is dynamic, and as needs arise, so does the opportunity to step in. Every member of the Kids team is expected to remain flexible and ready to assist wherever needed across all Next Gen areas, working together to help the ministry thrive.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Experience:  3-5 years of pastoral experience, preferably within a large-church context (500+ attendees), with a proven track record of developing systems, leading volunteer teams, and effective team leadership.
  • Education & Credentialing: Bachelor's degree preferred (Must be willing and able to obtain Credentialing with Assemblies of God, is expected).
  • Theological Alignment: Must wholeheartedly agree with believer’s baptism and firmly uphold a traditional view of marriage and human sexuality. Alignment with Arminian theology.
  • Required Skills: Systems, team builder, strategic thinker, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
