The Worship Pastor’s responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead CVCC worship services. Craft worship experience in conjunction with and in support of Senior Pastor.
• Heart and ability to disciple worship team / tech team members.
• Schedule and manage worship team / Tech team volunteers for weekly service.
• Maintain regular contact with volunteers to train, encourage and support.
• Coordinate and run weekly rehearsals with musicians, vocalists, and techs in preparation for Sunday services.
• Plan and produce special services such as Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve and others in collaboration with senior pastor.
• Oversee tech team members: sound, video, livestream and lights.
• Oversee and implementation of the worship arts budget.
• Manage facilities, equipment and other resources committed to worship art.
• Develop and implement other high-quality, forward-looking solutions within worship arts such as stage design, visual presentation and technology solutions.

What you bring

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Worship Pastor:

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree is preferred (ideally in Music and/or Biblical Studies); a master’s or seminary degree is a plus but not required. More important than formal education is demonstrated ministry experience and competency.

Candidates should have:

• 3+ years of worship leadership experience in a church similar in size or complexity (CVCC averages ~1,200 in attendance)
• Professional-level musical ability in vocals and at least one instrument (guitar strongly preferred)

Hands-on experience with worship technology, including sound, lighting, ProPresenter, Planning Center, Ableton, and A/V systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• The ideal candidate brings a balanced blend of musical excellence, technical fluency, pastoral heart, and systems thinking, including:
• Worship & Service Design: Ability to design and lead cohesive, repeatable Sunday services and collaborate with the Senior Pastor on special services (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve).
• Musical Leadership: Skill in reading charts, leading rehearsals, and directing musicians and vocalists toward excellence.
• Intergenerational Worship Philosophy: Ability to modernize hymns and maintain a “traditional praise band” style that serves both long-time members and younger families.
• Technical & Production Oversight: Proficiency in worship tech, stage design, troubleshooting, livestreaming, and visual presentation.
• Administrative & Resource Management: Experience managing budgets, equipment, and facilities responsibly.
• Leadership of Leaders: Ability to recruit, train, equip, and empower a volunteer-driven team rather than relying on personal performance.
• Relational Shepherding: A pastoral, discipling approach to team members and the congregation.
• High-Capacity Systems Thinking: Capacity to scale systems and teams for a growing, 1,200+-person church environment.
• Collaborative & Innovative Spirit: Flexibility, teachability, and creativity in solving ministry, technical, and organizational challenges.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

• Demonstrating a lifestyle consistent with the characteristics stated above.
• Excellence in vocals and at least one instrument (guitar preferred).
• Demonstrated ability as a worship ministry leader (3+ years leading worship in a church similar in size to CVCC).
• Skilled in the use of technology in worship – sound, lighting, ProPresenter, Planning Center and A/V equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train and encourage volunteer worship team/tech team members.
• Flexible to feedback from other staff members and open to further learning in the area of worship arts.
