Meet Community Bible Church

Community Bible Church is a welcoming, mission-focused congregation located in High Point, dedicated to centering all of life on Jesus and making disciples wherever we are. Their Sunday gatherings are offered at multiple times to accommodate the needs of our growing community, and age-specific ministry is available for infants through 12th-grade students. Under the banner of “Take Your Next Step,” the church encourages newcomers to attend worship gathered, explore a “Grounded” group, and connect with others in community. They emphasize following Jesus together and provide a wide array of ministries—kids, students, women, men, university, global, and local outreach—to support spiritual growth, leadership development, and service.

About the Next Generation Children’s Director

The NextGen Director for Children (birth – 5th grade) will provide biblical leadership to children and parents at Community Bible Church. He or She is a relational, visionary shepherd who is grounded deeply in God’s Word and committed to partnering with parents as the primary disciple-makers in their family. Their primary objective will be to shepherd children by using Scripture as his primary curriculum; coach, encourage, and equip gospel partners (i.e., volunteers); and support and equip parents. He knows names, values personal stories, and sets the example as a disciple-maker. He is able to minister to children and parents across the spectrum from celebration to suffering. Comfortable in both the classroom and the playground, he will model relational, intentional discipleship among the next generation, preparing children and parents to walk faithfully with Jesus for the entirety of their lives.  

The Next Generation Children’s Director‘s responsibilities include:

Oversight of Weekly Community: Kids Gatherings

  • This responsibility is a blend of proactive and reactive work
  • High, relational touch points with people, Spirit-led encounters 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, equipping, and encouragement to the Preschool Coordinator 
  • Implement a biblical scope and sequence that dictates curriculum choices designed to engage children with gospel-centered truth in age-appropriate, creative ways 
  • Recruit, lead, equip, and shepherd a team of committed gospel partners who desire to see children know, love, and follow Jesus 
  • Establish Team Coordinators and Ministry Leads to help build leaders and streamline ministry effectiveness 
  • Create and nurture a culture of accountability, commitment, excellence, and growth among gospel partners 
  • Ensure all policies related to child safety and ministry operations are regularly updated, implemented, and enforced 
  • Expected to attend and participate in worship gathered weekly

Shared Oversight of Strengthening Families Strategy

  • Responsible for working together with the Student Pastor and the members of the “strengthening families” team to develop a clear strategy for encouraging and strengthening family dynamics and rhythms around the Gospel 
  • Partner with the Congregational Care Pastor to oversee baptisms and the baptism process when children are involved 
  • Provide care and encouragement related to Parent Commissioning 
  • Plan and lead events that build relationships and foster community among our families 

Build and Oversee NextGen Leadership Pipeline 

  • Onboard new gospel partners to the Community: Kids team and invest in their development through coaching, encouragement, accountability, empowering, etc.  
  • Develop a strategy to move each gospel partner to their highest potential as servants of Jesus (e.g., from contributing members to missional disciples)
  • Develop a healthy communication rhythm through emails, text messages, phone calls, short videos, etc., to inform, encourage, and develop 

What you bring

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Next Generation Children’s Director:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s level seminary education (or higher) (preferred but not required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous pastoral experience (preferred)
  • Experience in volunteer development, family ministry, and creating engaging, gospel-centered environments for kids
  • Willingness to pursue EFCA Credentialing or Ordination at some point

  • Old School Teaching Values: Skilled in communicating biblical truth through relational and engaging teaching.
  • Word-Focused: Strong understanding of Scripture with the ability to teach deep, foundational truths in a way that children can understand.
  • Parent-Engaging: Ability to partner with and equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in their homes.
  • Connection-Focused Events: Skilled at designing and leading events that build intentional relationships.
  • High Expectations: Capable of motivating and challenging others—adults and children alike—to pursue excellence and spiritual growth.
