First Baptist Church of Georgetown has been a pillar of faith in the community since 1790. For over two centuries, the church has been a place where generations have gathered for worship, discipleship, and mission. Its historic downtown location reflects its deep roots, and its ministries continue to serve as an anchor for families across the Georgetown area.

Today, FBC Georgetown is in an exciting revitalization season, seeking to build on its strong foundation to reach the next generation. With an average weekly attendance of ~350, the church is known for its warm fellowship, blended worship style, and commitment to Scripture. Led by Senior Pastor Ben (serving since December 2024), the church is passionate about becoming a sending, equipping, and growing congregation in the heart of the Lowcountry.

About the Worship Pastor

First Baptist Georgetown, SC, is seeking a strong leader possessing a passion for both traditional and contemporary music for a blended worship experience. The core mission of the church is to glorify Jesus Christ by impacting the world through missions, Spirit-filled worship, and Biblical teaching in a loving, caring, united fellowship.

The ideal candidate must firmly believe that through worship, God will be praised and glorified, people will be connected to each other, and the un-churched and non-believers will hear the proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ. The church is currently in a season of growth with a focus on reaching the next generation.

The Worship Pastor's responsibilities include:

Worship and Music Focus

• Leading instrumentalists and vocalists.
• Directing choirs with multiple vocal parts.
• Leading congregational singing.
• Recruiting, organizing, and leading choirs, ensembles, and instrumentalists.
• The primary Sunday service is a blended service with Choir, traditional hymns, and praise and worship.
• Planning and execution of large annual events such as the Singing Christmas Tree and other community outreach activities.
• Working closely with the Senior Pastor, who has expressed the need for the Worship Pastor to be a trusted partner and collaborate effectively on sermon series direction.
• A vision for creating opportunities for young families to engage in worship.

Technical and Pastoral Focus

• Coaching the media team and improving the church's online presence.
• Being actively involved in the community, as the church desires pastoral roles to engage locally.

Education and Experience

• Undergraduate and/or seminary degree in a music-related field.
• Minimum of five years of pastoral ministry experience.
• Possesses experience, training, and expertise in the field of music and worship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Gifted musician and vocalist.
• A working knowledge of music theory.
• Ability to read and play music.
• Possesses an understanding of the theology of worship.
• A passion to involve and equip people for ministry.

Personal Characteristics and Qualifications

• Must be Christ-centered, self-disciplined, motivated, and an orderly individual with a servant’s heart.
• Must possess a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and demonstrate a commitment to growth.
• A love for and enjoyment of people.
• A willingness to work within a pastoral team.
• A heart for personal and corporate worship of God.
• Must set a good example of spiritual and family life and maintain proper priorities in the home.
• Must have the ability to relate well with all ages, from children to senior adults.
